Visual Arts at the Banff Centre
The Banff Centre, Canada, is now accepting applications to its thematic residencies. These include the following:
Dexter Sinister: From the Toolbox of a Serving Library with Stuart Bailey and David Reinfurt - As well as designing, editing, producing, and distributing both printed and digital media, Dexter Sinister has worked with ambiguous roles and formats, usually in the live contexts of galleries and museums. These projects generally play to some form of site-specificity, where a publication or series of events are worked out in public over a set period of time. Dexter Sinister intend to slowly dissolve all such activities into one single institution, The Serving Library.

The Soiree Retreat: A bit of a Chekhovian situation - three Icelandic artists who have been working with performance art, cinema, and music throughout their career (together and apart) will seek to inspire fellow artists with a situational, performative residency.
Programme dates: 12 September – 28 October 2011, application deadline: 25 April 2011.
Adam Chodzko: Something in the Water. A Search for the Turn of the Backwash - a collaboration offering field trips, hikes, meetings with 'real' people, collaborative video projects and individual quests.
Programme dates: 14 November – 9 December 2011, application deadline: 15 July 2011.
Ken Lum's Master Class: Art and the effects of the Real - an intensive residency with a structured program schedule that includes weekly seminars, discussion groups, and film screenings aiming to investigate the deepening interest of art towards its contingencies.
Programme dates: January – February 2012, application deadline: 25 July 2011.
