MA in Globalization Studies
The Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition (IGHC) of McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada hosts the first graduate degree offered in the country focusing on the study of globalization. The M.A. programme offers a blend of social science and humanities perspectives on globalization, giving students the benefit of an interdisciplinary and flexible selection of courses that allow for future study in a core discipline and offering students the ability to draw upon the resources and activities of the IGHC to enrich their learning and research endeavours. The courses offered by the Institute this year can be seen at globalization.mcmaster.ca/courses2.htm.
Each year the Institute sponsors a large number of events, lectures, and screenings on campus – one of the major events is the annual IGHC Distinguished Visiting Speaker. In 2004, in recognition of the quality of the programmes that it had developed for graduate and undergraduate students, the Institute received the Scotiabank-AUCC Award for Excellence in Internationalization for preparing students for a global future.
The deadline for applications to the 2007-2008 academic year is 1 February 2007. Application information and programme details can be found at globalization.mcmaster.ca/map.htm.
