Hangzhou Congress Proceedings
The International Congress on Culture: Key to Sustainable Development was held in Hangzhou, China, on 15 - 17 May 2013. This was the first international congress specifically focusing on the linkages between culture and sustainable development organized by UNESCO since the 1998 Stockholm Conference. The Congress provided the very first global forum to discuss the role of culture in sustainable development in view of the post-2015 development framework, with participation of the global community and major international stakeholders.
Following the UNESCO Hangzhou international congress, the Web Proceedings of the congress were published. You may consult this document along with video recordings of the panels at www.unesco.org/new/en/culture/themes/culture-and-development/hangzhou-congress/.
As a milestone for UNESCO's advocacy for culture and development, the congress and its outcome document - the Hangzhou Declaration - constitute key milestones in UNESCO's continuous efforts to place culture and development high on the sustainable development agenda, and particularly on the post-2015 agenda.
