Culturelink would like to draw your attention to the book I Am No Jesus and Other Selected Poems, Tanka and Haiku, written by Ram Krishna Singh, Professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, India, and member of the Culturelink Network of Networks from its very inception in 1989.
This is a bilingual collection of poems in English and Crimean Tatar, an endangered language. The poems are translated into Crimean Tatar by Taner Murat. In the Preface, R.K. Singh stresses that he views poetry as an expression of cosmic, organic, erotic life, creating its own forms, expressing itself and, in being expressed, finding its voice. Everything that global cultural community discusses today – intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity, solidarity and tolerance, migrants and their destinies (I Remain a Stranger…) - is present in these selected poems with an open mindset to creativity, i.e., to our creative future. Here is one of Singh's haikus: living life's routine / cycled in infinite loop / feel so limited
