KEEP ON: Effective Policies for Durable and Self-Sustainable Projects in the Cultural Heritage Sector (2018 - 2023)
The Department for Culture and Communication of the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO), focal point of the Culturelink Network, is coordinating a new Interreg Europe research project entitled KEEP ON: Effective Policies for Durable and Self-sustainable Projects in the Cultural Heritage Sector, financed within the European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) Programme. The leader of the IRMO team is Daniela Angelina Jelinčić, PhD, and the lead project partner is the Institute for Economic Development of the Ourense Province (INORDE) from Spain. IRMO is one of six project partners from different EU countries (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Croatia and Poland). The KEEP ON project will be implemented between 1 June 2018 and 31 May 2023. The main aim of the project is to improve public policies in the cultural heritage sector in terms of delivering high-quality projects that allow results to remain sustainable with reasonable public funding and have a long-lasting impact on regional development.
The project addresses questions such as: When the public funding is over, how do institutions sustain their work for the future? How do they get funds for their future functioning? How can public policies support beneficiaries in the self-sustainability of their projects? The KEEP ON project idea is in line with the principle of sustainable growth under the Europe 2020 strategy, the EU's agenda for growth and jobs for the current decade. In total, six policy instruments (three structural funds programmes and three local/regional strategies) will be improved through an EU-wide, interregional learning process. The KEEP ON project intends to provide a valuable input to all EU stakeholders, with a special focus on the forthcoming post-2020 cohesion policy.
