Postgraduate Studies in Cultural Management and Cultural Policy in the Balkans

Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro, Academic Year 2004/05

The Postgraduate Studies in Cultural Management and Cultural Policy in the Balkans are organised by the University of Arts in Belgrade, in partnership with the French universities Paris IX Dauphine, Lyon II and the Institute of Political Studies in Grenoble. The programme is supported by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

These postgraduate studies aim to train the future managers of cultural organisations and cultural project leaders by providing necessary theoretical and practical tools for development and implementation of cultural policies and cultural projects. The programme is developed over 2 years of study. The first year is dedicated to courses, to the development of projects, case studies, as well as to a study visit. The second year is dedicated to a 3-6 months internship in a cultural organisation from the Balkans or France, as well as to preparing the thesis, to be defended in June 2006. The course ends in a MA degree in Cultural Management from the University of Arts in Belgrade.

The programme is open to graduates with university degree and professionals with proved experience in the field of culture from the Balkan region, with good command of French and/or English. Non-francophone students can also attend university courses of French language (6 hours/week). The courses will take place in French (with simultaneous translation) or in English.

The application dossier (in English or French) should include:

  • a filled-in application form along with a letter of motivation in which the candidate will explain the relevance of the programme for his/hers professional career, as well as a resume, all to be submitted in electronic form to medjunar@arts.bg.ac.yu;
  • a certified translation of the diploma, to be sent by mail to Ms. Marijana Cvetkovic, no later than 15 September 2004.

The selection of the candidates will be made on the basis of the submitted candidature dossiers by a Committee established in the frame of the University of Arts in Belgrade. The fees for study are of 1000 EUR/ year.
