Konstfack's New Master's Programme for 2007/2008

Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design invites admission applications to its new Master's Programme for Academic Year 2007/2008. Established in 1844, Konstfack is the largest of its kind in Sweden, with a teacher-studio ratio that is one of the best in the world and workshops that are widely considered the best equipped in Europe.

The new Masterís Program comprises nine separate Master's Groups, hosted by individual departments under the supervision of professors and faculty:

  • Storytelling
  • Formgiving Intelligence
  • InSpace
  • Experience Design
  • Art in the Public Realm
  • Critical Writing and Curatorial Practice
  • Ceramics and Glass
  • Jewellery + Corpus
  • Textiles in the Expanded Field

The new graduate level programme, a two-year programme that leads to a Master's of Fine Arts, fuses design, art, history, theory and criticism into compelling forms of inquiry based on studio work and practical experience. Students are encouraged to design elements of their own course of study, across different departments.

Each Master's Group combines broad study with close analysis of your chosen field. Obligatory courses of the Master's Programme introduce students to a wide range of theories and methodologies in practice-based research and show how these can be applied in their creative practice. Elective courses, offered by individual departments, provide opportunities for further shaping the student's chosen specialization.

The Master's Programme is designed for students with a Bachelor's degree, a professional degree with a minimum of 180 academic credits (ECTS), or an equivalent foreign degree. Exceptions to these degree requirements may be made for students who have acquired equivalency by other means. Students should have a good command of spoken and written English, a clear vision of their educational goals, be informed about current research and development work in their discipline, and able to work independently.

The final date for applications is 1 March 2007, the final date for portfolios is 15 March 2007.
