Nida Art Colony of the Vilnius Academy of Arts
Call for Residency Applications and Events Proposals
The Nida Art Colony, a new subdivision of the Vilnius Academy of Arts in Lithuania, was opened in March 2011. The principal objective of the Colony is to improve the quality of art education in Lithuania, create favourable conditions for creative contemporary art practices, facilitate international and local collaboration and experiment in both art and art education.
The Nida Art Colony calls for applications to its Artist-in-Residence Programme and offers spaces for events at its facilities.
The Nida Artist-in-Residence Programme is intended for professional visual artists, designers, architects, curators, art critics and art historians. Nida 1-4 months residencies are planned between 1 October 2011 and 31 January 2012. Three grants covering travel, living and material expenses for Nordic and Baltic residents are available. Interested artists are invited to apply by 15 June 2011.
The Nida Art Colony also welcomes proposals from curators/institutions to collaborate or to rent the spaces for doing events at the Colony. The Colony's facilities include: seminar and conference/exhibition spaces, a roof terrace, a 53- bed guest house, multifunctional industrial space, a media lab and other equipment. The deadline for submitting proposals is 31 May 2011.
