The Programa Independente da Escola São Paulo - PIESP is a training programme for visual artists and curators who wish to develop and deepen their research and practice. The core activity of this programme which will run from August 2011 - June 2012 is a week long seminar, in the course of which the processes and production of each participant are presented and discussed with the group, moderated by one of the programme's leaders. It also encompasses lectures and individual meetings with a group of professional artists, critics and curators active in the Brazilian and international contemporary art circles.
The Escola São Paulo Arts Award for PIESP 2011/2012, which is supported by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture through the Cultural Incentive Law, will select seven artists to receive a full scholarship for participation in PIESP 2011/2012. Additionally, tuition for the second edition of PIESP is 60% reduced. In total, a group of 16 artists and curators will be selected to participate in the programme. Interested candidates are invited to apply before 25 July 2011.
