Literature in Flux Project
Literature in Flux is a project organized to mark the 5th anniversary of HALMA - the European Network of Literary Centres, in cooperation with local partners in Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Turkey and Albania. HALMA is organizing this project, funded by the European Union, with the aim to put stories and words in motion, to connect the cultural landscapes with each other, and to initiate a common dialogue across borders.
With Literature in Flux - Via Danube the project organizers want to create a temporary space for intercultural dialogue by connecting contemporary literature of the Balkan countries with those of other European countries and initiating sustainable partnerships and relations. In the second year, the project Literature in Flux - Via Mare will continue the literary flow in the Western Balkans and Turkey, with readings and discussions along the Adriatic coast and the Aegean Sea.
The literary journey, in which fifty guests - writers, poets, translators, journalists and bloggers are invited to participate - will begin on 23 September 2011 in Ruse (Bulgaria). The 34-day trip will lead through seven countries, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, and Austria, with the closing ceremony taking place during the 2011 edition of the festival Literature in Autumn (Literatur im Herbst) in Vienna.
