International Artist Residencies and Exhibition

Call for Artists

The Hungarian multicultural center (HMC) International Artist Residency Program, a not-for-profit arts organization based in Dallas, TX / Budapest, provides national and international artists with the opportunity to produce new work while engaging with the arts community in Budapest, Hungary. The residency is an opportunity for artists, designers, theorists, writers and curators to undertake a period of focused work at the HMC. An important part of the creative process is taking time for renewal. Whether you are ready to explore a life-long passion, looking for inspiration or eager to take on a new challenge, HMC has a programme designed to help you develop your creativity while experiencing another culture.

Each residency includes accommodation, working area, and access to all resources including workshops, library, etc. In selected instances, the residency may also include a basic materials stipend.

Deadlines: 28 January 2013 for Session 1 to be held on 15 May - 7 June 2013; 5 April 2013 for Session 2 to be held on 12 June - 5 July 2013, Session 3 to be held on 10 July - 2 August 2013 and Session 4 to be held on 6 August 2013 - 30 August 2013; 11 August 2013 for Session 5 to be held on 26 December - 11 January 2013.

Summer residencies cost: USD 1250 or Euro 950, the winter residency costs USD 950 or Euro 700. Longer or shorter stays can be arranged. Artists are expected to pay all travel expenses, personal costs, visa (if necessary), insurance, and to supply artist materials for their use during the residency.

The Artist in Residence Program is open to all artists who wish to work independently on their own projects. Disciplines: visual artists, writers, performers. Offered programme: residency, seminar, artist talk, exhibition, galleries and museum tour. Eligibility: International emerging artists.
