Artists in Residency: Africa Centre's AIR Programme
For the past seven years, the South African Africa Centre's Artists in Residency programme has successfully awarded 69 African artists, among them Mona Eltahawy, Victor Ehikhamenor, Njabulo Ndebele and Aida Muluneh, with residency opportunities around the world.
Residencies for early- to mid-career African Artists who predominantly live and work on the continent include the Bundanon Trust in Australia, the Instituto Sacatar in Brazil, the Fountainhead Residency and the International Studio Curatorial Programme both in the USA. The organisers are also accepting applications from mid- to late-career, highly accomplished artists for residencies at the prestigious Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Centre located on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. All residencies are available to innovative, provocative and socially conscious visual and performance artists, curators, composers, fiction and nonfiction writers, playwrights, poets, video/ filmmakers as well as artists working in digital forms. Each residency award has a distinct structure, set of requirements and duration. The costs of the residency and round-trip airfare are included in each residency award made.
Applications are open until 15th October 2018.
