The Wow Factor Global Research Compendium on the Impact of the Arts in Education

By Anne Bamford
Waxmann, Munich, 2006, 178 pp., 24.90 EUR, ISBN 3-8309-1617-5

Written by Prof. Anne Bamford of the Wimbledon School of Art and produced in collaboration with the Australia Council for the Arts and the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFFACA), The Wow Factor Global Research Compendium on the Impact of the Arts in Education presents the results of a study commissioned by UNESCO and IFACCA to determine the baseline position and international impact of the arts and culture within world education.

Analysing the differences between "education in the arts" and "education through the arts", the compendium compares data and case studies from more than 60 countries, developing internationally comparable standards for quality arts education and identifying a number of concrete educational, cultural and social benefits of arts education.
