The Pontifical Council for Culture in cooperation with the Urbaniana University Press announces a volume of speeches given during a meeting of the Council’s European Members and Consultators with the Presidents of the Commissions for Culture of the Episcopal Conferences of Europe, organised in Sibiu, Romania in 2007.
In the shifting background of European peoples and cultures, Gospel proposal is brought about through proclamation, dialogue and witness. Today's European secularization, perhaps less clamorous than yesterday but more pervasive, can be stunted. The pursuit of strategies to revitalize the values of his Christian roots is the starting point of new evangelization. These are the common guidelines of the European Episcopal Conferences gathered by the Pontifical Council for Culture in Sibiu, Romania, that aimed to bring into focus the Church's answer to the challenges posed by "silent apostasy", spreading vain relativism of life and values in culture and society.
