Critical Arts: A Journal of South-North Cultural and Media Studies, published by the Culture, Communication and Media Studies department of University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa, publishes original, theoretically cutting edge articles by established scholars of cultural and media studies and opens spaces for new, young and dynamic authors, whose emerging work is of critical and theoretical significance. One of the Critical Arts editorial policies is that it aims to challenge and engage conventional academic practices that reinforce undemocratic relations in society.
The latest issue, Vol. 22, No. 1-2 2008, brings a variety of expert articles that cover cultural and media issues from Africa, Australia and the Caribbean, the life work of cultural studies theorist Arnold Shepperson, along with a selection of book reviews.
