Following Volumes 1 and 3 in February 2011, the European Audiovisual Observatory published Volume 2 of its Yearbook 2010 - Film, Television and Video in Europe entitled Trends in European Television as last in the series. In the introduction to the publication, Wolfgang Closs, Executive Director, emphasized that Ďa comprehensive picture of the evolution of European television landscapes is outlined through eight chapters'. These cover:
- The global audiovisual market;
- Radio and TV companies in Europe;
- Digital TV, distribution platforms and broadband networks;
- Television services in Europe, on-demand audiovisual services and new technological developments;
- TV audience trends;
- Trends in TV programming; and
- TV production companies.
In every chapter, the collected data are shown and organized in an overview of 36 countries, allowing for comparisons of recent data relevant for the audiovisual sector. The publication includes a new subchapter introducing on-demand audiovisual services and new technological developments. Offering current insights as well as predictions of future trends, the publication represents a crucial source of information for those interested in the Europe's audiovisual market.
