Quelle politique pour la culture? Florilège des débats (1955-2014)
Edited by Philippe Poirrier, Collection "Doc en poche - Regard d'expert", La Documentation française, Paris, 2014, 384 pp.
The History Committee of the French Ministry of Culture has just made public a collection of texts gathered and presented by Philippe Poirrier under the title: Quelle politique pour la culture?, Florilège des débats (1955-2014). The ambition behind this anthology is to set out the meaning of the cultural policy conducted in France during the past fifty years or so. The selected method gives prominence to the debates raised by the "policy" promoted by Public Authorities. The selection of the 62 texts gathered into the book allows to perceive the evolution of the selling points that have slowly created the legitimacy of a public policy of culture, and aims also at grasping the general meaning of the cultural policy, without going - except for sufficiently significant exceptions - into the detail of the different sectoral policies.
