Edited by Kevin Robins and Burcu Yasemin Seyben, Cultural Policy and Management Research Centre (KPY), Istanbul Bilgi University Press, 2016, 210 pages, ISBN: 978-605-399-436-7
Published by the Istanbul Bilgi University Press and edited by Kevin Robins and Burcu Yasemin Seyben, this 2014-2015 issue is the fifth in the Cultural Policy and Management Research Centre's (KPY) Yearbook series. The central theme of the 2014-2015 Yearbook is the changing relationship between state and culture - thus the overall title of the Focus section is Cultural Interventions. Under this title there are two sub-sections, the first addressing new public policies towards the cultural fields, and the second exploring civil society responses. The theme Cultural Interventions is discussed within a comparative perspective, with cases from different countries. Nina Obuljen Koržinek, member of the Culturelink Team, analyses the transformation of cultural institutions: Searching for Viable Models as a Prerequisite for Independence, Artistic Excellence and Responsible Management.
The second issue addressed within the Cultural Interventions agenda concerns the changing civil society response to 'official' public cultural policies. In the 2014-2015 Yearbook the Open Space section contains articles on cultural policy research, participatory governance of funding in the arts, shopping malls as cultural spaces and a letter from Syria. The review section contains reviews of relevant publications and conferences.
